Oh Carson Ellis!  You make my heart pitter-patter.  The book "Wildwood" isn't out until September but Carson posted these two images on her blog (there are 76 illustrations in the book!  Yippeeee!).  Also, she said that she is proud of this project, which means it should be nothing less than incredible.  And with Colin Meloy having written it, well, I just think it's going to be a gem.  Take a gander:

new music (link for free mp3s!)!

Today's post won't be super exhilarating, but I recently found out about these two upcoming releases and really wanted to share...

Iron and Wine has a new album coming out on the 25th!  It is called "Kiss Each Other Clean".  They did a session on Daytrotter on the 12th so you can get a preview of the album (the mp3s are free too!).  I really like this promo photo and the new album cover art:

The Decemberists have a new album coming out tomorrow!!  NPR has the album "The King is Dead" on first listen for the rest of today.  Here is the album cover for it:

I really really like Carson Ellis.  This was my introduction to her work:

Other pieces I enjoy:

(in order: cover for The Mysterious Benedict Society, Yerusian Lazarevich Slays The Dragon, Reading Frenzy, Irkutsky Dom, cover for The Decemberists: Her Majesty The Decemberists)

The visual & musical arts seem to run thick in their family's blood (she is married to Colin Meloy of The Decemberists)!
