Super short (and sweet!!). So, we were in SF when the MusicNOW Festival happened this year. I was very sad to miss it. BUT! I can watch these forever and (sort of) get in on what we missed out on.
HERE is the amazing SHARA.
HERE is a huge collaboration including Justin Vernon and Sharon Van Etten. And, ANOTHER with those two.
Happy listening...speaking of which I will be doing shortly at Millenium Park (where Iron & Wine are playing for FREEEEE!) :D

listening to & looking at: 2010 musicnow folks & julie morstad.
I have been thinking a lot about the MusicNow Festival again lately, as it was in mid-January last year that they announced who would be playing and when tickets would be available. The festival, which goes on in a uniquely humble way in Cincinnati, is curated by Bryce Dessner of The National. It is one of the most memorable and special events I have ever been able to behold. In my thinking about the festival, I was searching for any news and instead found some lovely reminders of the shows last year:

I saw this lovely work on a blog a little time ago, and wanted to share it here. The artist is Julie Morstad and she is a very talented lady! Enjoy looking at some of my favorites (it was so hard to limit myself! I ended up at 13!)...

I have been captured by the music of Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond) since I had the treat of seeing her open for Sufjan at the 2007 MusicNow Festival. Oh, how her voice carries me places...
She was asked to take part in this really neat/wonderful sounding "song-cycle" called 'Penelope'. There is a FREE mp3 from 'Penelope' called "This is What You're Like" HERE. It's lovely.
Also, if you are in NY on Monday the 18th, you should really go to the release concert!
