the little things.

WE LEAVE FOR SAN FRAN TOMORROWWWWW!!!  :)  I am super excited to get on the train with my best friend (Daniel, duhhh)!  Woo! Lots of things to do before we head out still...eek!

Took these when I was taking photos of our abode.  I really like details.  I really like elaborate and intricate things.  I am inspired by the little things.  So, here are some little things from our home :)

He is with his grandparents right now.  We miss him.  It's quiet.

I recently had the opportunity to hear Makoto Fujimura speak at a conference and having never heard of him until some time this past summer I was quite blown away.  This man seems to have a really good sense of his identity.  He seems to have searched and searched his heart so that he might know his purpose well.  He seems to have explored the relationship between God and art for many many years.  Even having only seen him speak to a large group and having no personal relationship or even a single conversation with him, I am encouraged and motivated to think about these things he has thought through in his life. He is also a very gifted writer and THIS is an incredible commencement speech he recently made at a graduation ceremony at Belhaven University.  I really enjoyed this line in the speech: "the role of the artist in a liquid reality is to awaken all of our senses through creativity and love".  His newest project "the Four Holy Gospels" was a commissioned project which has his paintings spread throughout and all over the pages of the four canonical gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  Here are some photos from that project:

music monday: amiina & 'lauren edward'.

I have 2 very brilliant friends who happen to be married and living in Iceland (yes, I really really really want to visit).  Andrea, the female half, and I went to school for fashion together.  She is one of the most creative people I know.  She is also a great executor of her creations.  Pete, the male half, I unfortunately don't know quite as well, but we of course still love him :) Pete makes films.  Really good films.  Well, they have merged their two very wonderful and creative minds to make 'Lauren Edward'.  And...as the creative directors/owners of 'Lauren Edward' they have already been doing something super neat and awesome.  With a super neat and awesome band, amiina.  I saw amiina at my first MusicNOW Festival and they were such a surprising and delightful treat to watch and listen to.  This is a video about the process and concept behind the video.  All of the people involved are very inspiring.  I hope you enjoy it :)

Saw some lovely images of a spring/summer collection from japanese designer MUVIEL, whose work I have been unfamiliar with until now.  The photographs of the collection themselves are inspiring, so pair that with some beautiful pieces and some kind of magic is made.  I really like to styling too!

Have you heard about them?  These two seem like such beautiful and wonderful kindred spirits.  The two is soon to be three as they are in the process of adopting a beautiful little Ugandan girl.  I found them through Rockstar Diaries and am always inspired by them!! our apartment :)

Finally posting some pics of our apartment here in the Chi!  We still don't have everything done that I'd like to have done (we need a bedroom curtain!  And I want to finish my cork board!), but it's close.  Plus, we got a couch!  Our very first couch!!  So, almost every room changed because of a new piece of furniture coming in.  It's been really nice.  Here are some photos:

The photos are from an engagement shoot by Cassie from CNS Photography & Design (Cassie, you captured SO much in these images!).  This beautiful lady is named Bethany.  Bethany and I lived in Hong Kong at the same time and were friends through church.  These photos of she and her fiance, Miles, emanate love and beauty to me.  One of my favorite things about the photos is that the only "prop" (if you can even call it that) is a blanket!  The colors come from skin, nature, hair, and fun clothing.  They are so naturally captivating.  Woohoo!  Enjoy...
